📅 What's On Around Bray

😂 Meme of the Day

☕ Morning, Bray! A nightly soup run, a chance to add to Bray’s history and a few plans for the weekend. We’ve also got breakfast, lunch and dinner sorted, plus a quick check before your next recycling-centre trip.

🌤️ Bray's Weather Today

Mostly cloudy, with a few light showers possible and highs around 11°C. A light rain layer will be handy if you’re out around town. Check the most recent Bray forecast before heading out: Met Éireann’s latest forecast →

A soup run, every night of the year

Each evening, Bray Area Rough Sleepers Support (BARSS) sets out with soup and something to eat for people sleeping rough. The group does this 365 days a year. East Coast FM’s new Window on Wicklow episode joins volunteers Angela O’Donnell and Michael Walby on the run, then gives space to people who use the service to talk about what it means to them. It is a short, seven-minute listen, but a very human one: the practical help matters, and so does being met with a familiar face. BARSS relies entirely on community donations, keeping this steady work going night after night. If you’ve wondered what happens on a soup run in Bray, this is a lovely introduction to the people who make it happen. Listen to the episode →

A Greystones family business makes two award shortlists

Ecoset, the Greystones family business behind reusable water bottles, travel mugs and food pots, has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2026 Irish Family Business Awards: Best Small Family Business of the Year (Leinster) and Sustainable Family Business of the Year. The couple behind it started the business after seeing how much single-use plastic built up on film productions. A nice North Wicklow name to keep in mind if you’re looking for a useful, reusable gift. See the award finalists → · Visit Ecoset →

Bray Recycling Centre is temporarily closed

If you usually bring a load to the centre on Boghall Road, Wicklow County Council says it is closed until Monday 9 November, when reopening is currently scheduled. Please hold recyclable materials and bulky waste at home where it’s safe to do so, and don’t leave anything outside the centre or beside bottle banks. Have a story from Bray’s business past?

Bray Chamber and the Bray Cualann Historical Society are building an archive of the Chamber’s history, from its founding in 1956 to today. They’re inviting past presidents, members and local residents to share materials or memories. If you have something that might belong in the collection, send it to [email protected], or see the 70th-anniversary project.

There’s a good bit of Bray in a children’s bookshop, and Tales for Tadpoles has just earned a place on the six-shop shortlist for the 2026 An Post Bookshop of the Year.

At 3 Albert Walk, it brings together beautifully illustrated books, Irish authors and illustrators, local prints, craft kits and gifts. The shop also runs story and creative events, which makes it an especially handy stop if you’re choosing a present for a young reader.

The award winner will be announced on 1 December; for now, it’s lovely to see a Bray independent in the mix.

There’s a Peter Rabbit gift offer on too: spend €60 and get a free collectable worth up to €23.
