ISSUE #009 | SUNDAY 1 NOVEMBER 2026
☕ Morning, Bray! Well, that’s Halloween done for another year. The pumpkins have had their moment, the sweet bowls are looking a little emptier, and November is here. This Sunday we’re looking at big plans for Fassaroe, cheering on local lads raising money for Movember, enjoying classic cars over coffee and finding somewhere good for Sunday lunch. Put the kettle on and catch up on what’s happening around town. 💙

😂 Meme of the Day

November is starting on a cool note, but the forecast points to a mostly dry sunny Sunday with bright spells and temperatures around 10–12°C. A jacket will come in handy if you’re off to look at the cars or taking a stroll along the seafront.

📰 The Local Lowdown
🥸 Bray’s ScaffRite lads are growing moustaches for Movember!
There could be some questionable facial hair appearing around Bray this November, and it’s all for a great cause! 💚
Local scaffolding company ScaffRite Ltd, run by Bray man Ian, is growing moustaches to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health, suicide prevention, and prostate and testicular cancer. The lads plan to share updates and photos as the moustaches develop throughout the month.
Let’s get behind Ian and the crew! Every donation helps, and a little encouragement goes a long way too. 🥸
🏘️ Big plans for Bray: Could Fassaroe see 2,000 homes?
One of Bray’s biggest potential housing developments is back in the spotlight. Nimol Real Estate Group, headed by Niall Molloy, has bought 162 acres at Fassaroe from CRH. The land could eventually accommodate more than 2,000 homes, with parks and other community facilities also envisaged.
The plans are still at an early stage and no planning permission has been granted but it's a development worth watching as Bray continues to grow.
🚗 On the Roads

Using the 21 Bends this week?
Road resurfacing begins on the R117 near Enniskerry on Tuesday 3 November. Night work is planned from 7pm to 7am for around two weeks, with daytime drainage work on 3 and 4 November. Stop/go traffic management is planned, so allow extra time if this is your regular route out of Bray.

🍽️ Food & Drink Around Bray
🐟 Fish and chips at Butler & Barry, €19.80
Fancy someone else doing the cooking? Butler & Barry on Strand Road serves beer-battered fish with triple-cooked chips, salad, tartare and burnt lemon for €19.80. Sunday food service runs from noon to 9pm, so it's an easy lunch or early dinner after a seafront walk.
🍖 Sunday carvery at The Castle Inn
There’s something lovely about a proper Sunday roast without the washing-up. The Castle Inn, 1 Castle Street in Little Bray, serves a traditional Sunday carvery alongside its regular menu. The pub opens at noon on Sundays, and the kitchen lists food service from noon. Ideal for a relaxed lunch with family or friends.
🍽️ A €25 Sunday roast at Old Conna Golf Club
Another option for Sunday lunch is The Dining Room at Old Conna Golf Club on Ferndale Road. Its Sunday roast is listed at €25 per person, with lunch served from noon to 4pm. Ideal if you fancy a sit-down roast after a leisurely morning; the restaurant takes bookings online.

🗓️ Today in Bray
🚘 10am–noon · Cars & Coffee at Coffee Delights · Free
A treat for car lovers and curious passers-by! Sunday’s meet-up brings vintage classics, sports cars and the occasional supercar together over coffee at Coffee Delights. Wander around, admire the cars and have a chat with their owners. There’s no admission charge; coffee is available to buy.
☕ Sunday morning · Coffee and a chat at St Peter’s
St Peter’s Parish Hall on Chapel Lane has a coffee morning after the 9am and 11.30am Masses. A relaxed chance to catch up with familiar faces and meet a few neighbours.
📅 Worth Planning Ahead
🕯️ Monday 2 November, 7pm · Remembering loved ones
St Peter’s Church on Chapel Lane and Holy Redeemer on Main Street will each hold their annual Mass for parishioners who died over the past year. Both begin at 7pm on Monday. A meaningful occasion for local families marking All Souls’ Day.

✨ Sunday Catch-Up
🏡 November matters for some property owners
Today, 1 November, is the Local Property Tax liability date for 2027. If your home is newly built or has become liable for the first time, your circumstances on this date can affect next year’s LPT. Revenue says the return for properties becoming liable for the first time is due by 2 December. A useful reminder if your property situation changed this year, rather than something every homeowner needs to worry about today.

💛 One More Thing
An hour of your time can make a difference
Holy Redeemer’s Outreach Group would welcome a few extra hands selling Christmas cards after Sunday Masses during November and December. Proceeds support the group’s overseas projects. If you have an hour to spare and would like to help, contact Kevin Rafferty on 086 606 9274. Sometimes community spirit is as simple as showing up.
