SUNDAY 25 OCTOBER 2026 · SUNDAY CATCH-UP
Morning, Bray. A long weekend is a good chance to catch up without filling every spare minute.
Today we have a completed community rebuild, a town-wide award, essential rail information and a home play-off to look forward to.
There is also a small, date-checked local diary and a way to help preserve Bray’s business memories.
The clocks went back overnight. Your phone may have sorted itself out but if you didn’t change the cooker’s clock in spring, congratulations — it’s right again.
In Today’s Craic
🌦️ Bray’s Weather Today — the Sunday outlook and forecast.
📣 The Local Lowdown — Lakers, DART works, TidyTowns gold and the Wanderers.
🗓️ What’s On Around Bray — a last-day gallery reminder and two small-group sessions.
📰 Sunday Catch-Up — the town’s business-history archive appeal.
😆 Meme of the Day — a kitchen clock gets its moment.

Bray’s Weather Today
💨 🍃 A blustery start, with winds easing later. Met Éireann’s national forecast says Sunday morning will bring sunshine and showers with fresh to strong, gusty westerly winds. Winds ease during the afternoon and evening. The national high-temperature range is 9–12°C.
For a promenade or Bray Head outing, check the latest Bray forecast and weather warnings before setting off.

📣 The Local Lowdown
Lakers completes the final phase of its Bray rebuild
Lakers Sports & Social Club has completed the rebuild of its Bray centre, eight years after the original building was destroyed by fire in 2018. East Coast FM’s report, dated Friday 23 October, says the third and final phase has added a sports hall, a sensory room, an art room and a dedicated family room.
Those are practical additions for members and families, rather than simply a new frontage. The report says the spaces will support existing members, give families more support and allow the club to grow its classes, activities and membership. Some members have been part of Lakers for more than 35 years.
The project has been supported by donors, local businesses, organisations and years of community fundraising. The club is thanking the people who backed the rebuild as it begins this next chapter.
For anyone interested in joining or supporting Lakers, follow the club’s own updates for the next steps. Completion of the building does not, on its own, confirm a particular class timetable or an available membership place. Read the rebuild report.
🚃 No DART between Bray and Grand Canal Dock this weekend
Iarnród Éireann confirms there are no DART services between Grand Canal Dock and Bray from Saturday 24 to Monday 26 October inclusive, because of engineering works. That includes today and the bank-holiday Monday.
Dublin–Rosslare services have bus transfers between Dublin Connolly and Bray to a revised timetable. Those transfers are not a general replacement DART service. Leap cards remain valid on TFI services in the affected areas.
If you are heading towards Dublin, check the actual outward and return journey. The extra Sunday-morning marathon trains listed in the notice are not a replacement service from Bray. Read the official bank-holiday travel notice.
🏅TidyTowns gold, and a 19-point step forward
Bray has received a Gold Medal in the 2026 SuperValu TidyTowns competition, in Category H for Large Urban Centres. The town’s official report, published on Friday, records 404 marks — an increase of 19 from the 385 awarded in 2025.
It is a measurable result worth recognising, alongside the continuing local effort that goes into caring for public spaces. It is not a claim that every part of town is finished or that all improvement projects are complete. The useful news is the award itself and the clear year-on-year rise. Read Bray’s result and report.
⚽️ A home promotion play-off for the Wanderers
Bray Wanderers’ official fixture list has Kerry FC visiting Carlisle Grounds on Tuesday 27 October for the second leg of the First Division promotion play-off. Kick-off is 7.45pm.

🗓️ What’s On Around Bray
Sunday 25 October: Becoming Animal — final listed day
Signal Arts Centre, 1a Albert Avenue · listed hours 10am–5pm. Eabha Cleary’s exhibition explores Bray’s Boghall Road through suburban landscapes and mythology. The gallery’s event record runs from 12 to 25 October, making today its final listed date. Admission charges are not stated on that record; check with the gallery if needed. Gallery details.
Sunday 25 October: small-group soundbath
Resonate, Putland Road · 5–6.30pm · €30. If the long weekend has turned into a longer to-do list, this is one way to leave it alone for 90 minutes. The soundbath is limited to four people, with mats and blankets provided — a slower-paced option for your Sunday evening. Check availability and book.
Friday 30 October: Friday Night Reset
Resonate, Putland Road · 7.30–9pm · €30. Not every Friday night needs to be a big night out. Friday Night Reset is a 90-minute soundbath for a group of up to four people — a lower-key way to mark the end of the week, with the session wrapped up by 9pm. Check availability and book.

📋 Sunday Catch-Up
Help keep Bray’s business memories from disappearing
For this Sunday Catch-Up, a practical look ahead: the Bray & District Chamber of Commerce’s 70th-anniversary programme includes a Heritage & Archive Project with the Bray Cualann Historical Society. Its public appeal asks current and former business owners, multi-generational trading families, retired Chamber members and local residents to share historical material.
The requested material includes photographs, commercial documents, memorabilia and oral-history reflections. Selected contributions are intended for a commemorative booklet and an interactive foyer exhibition connected with the anniversary programme.
If a relative kept an old shop photograph, trading record or story about working in Bray, this is a concrete route to find out whether it can become part of the town’s archive. The published contact is [email protected].
A sensible first step is to describe what you have and ask the organisers about format, ownership and permissions before sending irreplaceable originals. Add any names, locations and dates you genuinely know; there is no need to guess the missing details.
It is about the everyday business memories that help explain how Bray grew and changed. Read the full heritage appeal.
Meme of the Day
